Beginners

1. download install-extsetup.exe to the Desktop, then run install-extsetup.exe and follow the prompts.
   
   Please note: one of the files this installer copies into the destination folder is eXTsetup.ini.
   If the installer finds a copy of this file in the destination folder, it will rename it before copying the new file.
   
   When the installer asks Choose Destination Folder , set this to your energyXT program folder, for example C:\Program Files\energyXT .
   
   After the installer is finished it will automatically run the eXTsetup program.
   
   
2. The eXTsetup program is a downloader and installer for eXT, preconfigured to fetch the three eXT program variants, the Commands Guide and the Beginner's Guide and Pack. Click on the Help button for more information on how to configure the folders.
   
   set eXT Folder to your energyXT program folder, for example C:\Program Files\energyXT
   
   set VST Folder to the folder where your VST-plugins are, for example C:\Program Files\Vst\energyXT
   
   set Download Folder to the folder where the internet downloads should be placed, for example C:\Downloads\EnergyXT
   
   set Prgrm Icons Folder to the folder where the program shortcuts should be placed, for example [Programs]\energyXT
   
   set the Install Path for the Beginner's Pack, for example [My Documents]\energyXT
   If you have more than one hard disc or partition, it would be best to move the eXT audio and projects folders to a different partition from Windows.
   
   
3. click on the Update button to start downloading the energyXT files.
   The download file sizes are (approximately) 3 energyXT programs at 500KB each, the Commands Guide at 200KB, the Beginner's Guide at 800KB (lots of diagrams) and the beginner's Pack at 250KB. On a 56Kbps dial-up connection, this should take 10 minutes.
   
   In summary, this procedure will:
   • place the energyXT program in your energyXT program folder, together with the Commands Guide and Beginner's Guide,
   • place the 2 energyXT VSTs in your VST Plugins folder
   • install the Beginner's Pack the "My Documents\energyXT" folder.
     This folder will store your eXT songs, presets, skins etc. DarkStar will refer to this folder as the eXT base folder in this guide.
   • place eXT shortcut icons in your Start - All Programs menu.
   
   
   
4. Exit the eXTsetup program.

Advanced Users

download extsetup.zip to the Desktop, then extract eXTsetup.exe to the same folder as your energyXT "standalone.exe" host program.

First Time Usage

- If you have not installed any energyXT files or eXTsetup before:

• Make a folder for the energyXT host program e.g. C:\Program Files\energyXT or C:\energyXT.
• Copy "eXTsetup.exe" to e.g. C:\Program Files\energyXT or C:\energyXT.
• Run "eXTsetup.exe".
• Set eXT Folder to e.g. [Program Files]\energyXT or C:\energyXT.
• Set VST Folder to the folder where your VST-plugins are, e.g. [Program Files]\energyXT\Vst or C:\Program Files\Vst.
• Set Download Folder to the folder where the internet downloads should be placed, e.g. C:\Downloads EnergyXT.
• Set Prgm Icons Folder to the folder where your shortcuts should be placed, e.g. [Programs]\energyXT
• set the Install Path for the Beginner's Pack, for example [My Documents]\energyXT
• Press Update button to start downloading the energyXT files.
• Exit "eXTsetup".
• Run "standalone.exe".

Uninstallation

To uninstall eXTsetup, simply delete the "eXTsetup.exe", "eXTsetup.ini" and "eXTsetup.chm" files.
