Tips
CHM width:
I personally like the total default width of the CHM to be <= 800 pixels, resulting 570 pixels without
the left pane, leaving 520 pixels for graphics.
Image colors:
A generally grayish skin, like the skins used in the BG, using 256 colors on a white background works
best for different CHM styles and the PDF.
A gray skin will look good with light, medium and dark CHM-styles.
It is important that graphics and text are legible and clear:
- in the PDF (printing and reading)
- the CHM in the 5 different text sizes for the headers
Try to use PNG images of 256 colors, which includes the 16 standard windows colors.
The "images pdf" contains PNG-files with the default white background. ( color 256 )
The "images chm" contains PNG-files with the white background changed to transparent. ( color
256 >> transparent )
The abovementioned is an effort to suggest guidelines and ideas for a standardized method and hopefully
easier method to create WEB / CHM / PDF Guides and Manuals...
Character entities in PDF:
HTMLdoc is a bit fussy about it's character entities.
Only the character entities #000; thru #255; are supported.
It is strongly advised to ALWAYS include the semicolon ;
